Cressfield is situated just over 10 kms north of Scone and our boundaries comprise several kilometres of the New England Highway to the east and a similar length along Cressfield Road to the north. Cressfield was originally a 10,000 acre wheat and sheep farm established in the early 1900’s and owned by the Hall family until the late 1990’s. It was then subdivided and sold off with the 1917 Cressfield Homestead and its adjoining acreage passing into the hands of our current owner. In its present use as a broodmare farm, Cressfield consists of 3,500 acres of prime agricultural flats that rise up to gently sloping woodlands.

Over 1,200 acres of this land has been developed specifically for thoroughbred breeding and comprises state of the art facilities situated on the alluvial flats that surround our two main water courses, Dry Creek and the Kingdon Ponds. These two courses actually meet on Cressfield and then flow together towards the Hunter River as the Kingdon Ponds Stream. Over 80% of this horse specific land is under irrigation which is fed by several large wells located throughout the property.

We are fortunate to have some of the Thoroughbred Industry’s finest broodmares residing at Cressfield, including Group 1 winners Champagne (NZ), Our Egyptian Raine (NZ), Regimental Gal, Star Satire (NZ) and River Dove. Others from notable bloodlines are the well performed Palia, Personify, Absolutely Fabulous and Galapagos Girl. All Cressfield mares are mated to the best available stallions and we are now starting to see the outcome of these “top-shelf” matings with strong sales and racetrack results.
